What We Do

At Catholic Charities we help people who are struggling by addressing the often complex issues at the root of their need. Through our national office’s advocacy and disaster relief programs — and its support of our network of member agencies — we’re making tangible progress toward better serving and loving our neighbors all across the country.

CCUSA represents agencies across the country who serve the nation’s poorest and most vulnerable people regardless of faith. Our collective efforts focus on a collection of core areas that we believe can make a difference in the lives of people in need.

Our approach to reducing poverty is multifaceted, with programs aimed at both the national and community level.

Advocacy & Policy

We’re working to improve legislative and social policy through our advocacy initiatives, which help governments better understand poverty’s impact on the economy and family. Spearheaded by our national office, our efforts are also informed by the work of our diverse community of member agencies.

Supporting Our Member Community

Our national office provides support to Catholic Charities member agencies across the country and in the US territories. We assist the work of our members by sharing new and promising best practices. We also create opportunities for prayer and mutual encouragement among and within local agencies.

Alliance with Notre Dame

We’re combining our efforts with the research and analysis of one of the country’s leading Catholic universities to get closer to our ambitious goal: to change the way our nation talks about poverty and serves the millions of Americans who are struggling to make ends meet.
