Gabriel*, a refugee from Sierra Leone, came to the United States by himself, leaving his 10-year-old son with his parents because he wasn’t sure how to support him here. He got a job in the United States, worked very hard and saved. He sent money back to his son, and after a year, felt that his life here was stable enough to have his son join him. He worked with a Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston attorney to petition for his son. His son is now here, reunited with his father, enrolled in school and looking forward to learning and working hard just like his dad. [*Name changed to protect privacy.]
