CCUSA launches fundraising campaign to support immigrants, refugees
Alexandria, Va. (February 2, 2017) – Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), one of the nation’s largest human services providers, launched an $8M fundraising campaign today which aims to close the gap that will be created over the next four months due to the recent suspension of the U.S. refugee resettlement program. Without those funds Catholic Charities agencies would not be able to meet the needs of nearly 45,000 refugee and immigrant children and families whom they currently serve in agencies across the country.
Every dollar raised will be distributed to agencies to continue their care of these vulnerable people. “We need to stay focused on our care for those who are frightened and vulnerable,” said Sister Donna Markham, OP, PhD, president and CEO of CCUSA. “The executive orders are having an impact not only on very frightened people seeking to come to our country and the refugees already here, but also on those serving them and trying to get them integrated into our communities.”
By giving to Catholic Charities, donors will help to meet the needs of this vulnerable population and contribute directly to their ability to receive the programs and services they need to become active contributors to American society.
