How Catholic Charities Helps
In 2016, Catholic Charities agencies across the country served nearly 2 million children. More than 1.2 million received food and nutrition services.
- 3.43 million Afterschool meals were provided during the school year
- 1.27 million Summer lunch program meals provided during the summer break from school
Catholic Charities agencies also provide education and enrichment services (Headstart, early Headstart and Headstart-like programs), as well as childcare programs before and afterschool for children six years and older.
In addition, services were provided to more than 63 thousand youth at risk of abuse or neglect. Services include emergency assistance, foster care, mentoring programs and family preservation services.
