The Senior Accountant will perform day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the organization, including but not limited to intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and monthly recurring journal entries.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains accounting records of CCUSA and other related entities of the organization.
  • Responsible for monthly journal entries and monthly account reconciliations which include (but not limited to) prepaid expenses, fixed asset, accrued expenses, payroll, and/or inventory transactions, as applicable, in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assists with the timely and accurate preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Assists with the annual audit by preparing audit schedules for financial statements, the related footnotes and the 990-tax return.
  • Supports Financials Grants Manager with required filings and other related tasks
  • Researches, interprets, and aids with the implementation of all new GAAP pronouncements as it relates to not-for-profit organizations. Establishes and improves accounting policies and procedures; establishes and maintains internal accounting controls; develops, modifies, and documents accounting policies.
  • Keeps abreast of best practices, technologies and processes; trouble shoots business processes and internal controls; identifies opportunities for customer service improvements.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Educational & Experience

  • BS/BA (or equivalent experience) in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA or Masters Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
  • Three to five years of auditing or accounting related experience in a non-profit organization.

Work Environment

  • This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and repetitive lifting of minimal weight.
