Alexandria, Va — In response to today’s Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, CCUSA issued the following:
As we have since our founding more than 100 years ago, CCUSA remains committed to walking in solidarity with all those who come to our doors, whether they are girls or women in crisis pregnancies or families facing challenging social, economic or housing circumstances. Our compassion for those struggling with difficulties often beyond their control is coupled with a call for strong social supports – including food, health and housing policies – that uplift and promote the welfare of all. This call is consistent with our Catholic faith and values, with our mission to alleviate suffering and reduce poverty, and with the teachings of the Gospels.
Catholic Charities provides social services to help women and girls during pregnancy and after the birth of a child. These social services include financial and material support; care and counseling during prenatal, postnatal and postpartum stages; adoption; and housing.
