CCUSA calls for solutions that help families affected by TPS to remain together
Alexandria, Va. — Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) is disappointed by the recent decision of the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals that would allow for the continued dismantling of Temporary Protected Status (TPS). We urge the administration and Congress to find solutions that help families affected by TPS to remain together in the United States. More than 270,000 U.S citizens have parents with TPS. If appeals are not granted, this decision will likely lead to more family separations within our borders.
CCUSA’s deep concern for TPS holders and their families originates from the gospel mandate to “welcome the stranger,” especially those vulnerable to danger and violence. The Trump administration’s policies would end TPS for people from El Salvador, Honduras, Sudan, Nicaragua, Haiti and Nepal, despite continued unsafe conditions in those countries.
