Alexandria, Va. – The generosity and hard work of volunteers can add both tangible and intangible benefits to an organization. The Catholic Charities ministry in the United States receives both from its volunteers. We are pleased to announce the publication of the 2019 summer issue of Charities USA (read here), the quarterly magazine of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), highlighting the work of volunteers with Catholic Charities agencies across the country. Volunteers offer program support to staff members and loving concern to clients. The support may be an extra set of hands at a food pantry or pro bono legal work for asylees. The loving concern springs from the welcoming and care of clients.
The summer issue features the variety of volunteers and their services for Catholic Charities. Articles include vignettes of the various age groups involved in volunteering and portraits of the national service programs AmeriCorps and Senior Corps. The issue also highlights the generous service of CCUSA’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year, Jana Hukriede, who volunteers with Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri.
