CCUSA and the National Association of Real Estate Brokers form alliance
Alexandria, Va. (March 13, 2018) – Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) announced today that it has executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) that forms an alliance to address the obstacles faced by African-Americans and other minorities in obtaining affordable housing. The MOU encourages local NAREB Chapters and CCUSA member agencies to work together to provide education, training and related services to vulnerable populations.
CCUSA and NAREB share a core belief in the right of all persons to safe, affordable housing. The alliance has produced a collaboration between CCUSA’s member agency, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Camden, and the Southern New Jersey Chapter, NAREB. The two local organizations are working together on a “Housing Resource Fair” during National Fair Housing month in April to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.
NAREB, founded in 1947, is the oldest minority real estate trade association in the country. While comprised principally of African-Americans, NAREB welcomes membership by all who support its vision of “Democracy in Housing.”
CCUSA is a national membership organization formed in 1910 for Catholic Charities agencies throughout the United States and its territories. CCUSA provides advocacy, education, strategic alliances and other services to support the efforts of member agencies to serve vulnerable populations, including in the area of affordable housing. Catholic Charities member agencies own more than 37,000 units of affordable housing and provide a broad range of housing resources and related services.
