CCUSA president and CEO joins White House delegation for Mother Teresa canonization
It was announced today that Catholic Charities USA President and CEO, Sister Donna Markham, OP, PhD, is part of a special Presidential delegation traveling to the Vatican to attend the canonization of Mother Teresa.
The Honorable Lisa Monaco, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, will lead the delegation which also includes the Honorable Kenneth Hackett, U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, Department of State, The Honorable Suzy George, Deputy Assistant to the President and Executive Secretary and Chief of Staff, National Security Council and Dr. Carolyn Y. Woo, President and CEO, Catholic Relief Services.
“Mother Teresa awakened people to the plight of those living on the margins,” said Sister Donna. “The obligation is now ours to continue her mission and work to transform the systems that perpetuate the injustices that keep persons and families in poverty.”
