Catholic Charities Fort Worth CEO testifies to National Hunger Commission
Catholic Charities Fort Worth CEO Heather Reynolds recently submitted written testimony at the invitation of the National Commission on Hunger. Formed by Congress in 2014, the National Commission on Hunger is a group of ten appointed scholars and experts who are tasked with providing a report to Congress by November 2015 that lays out ways to more effectively target USDA programs and funds and also offers recommendations to reduce need for USDA programs through innovative public-private partnerships. Ms. Reynolds’ testimony encourages the Commission to look beyond the symptom of hunger to find solutions that address the root causes fueling the cycle of poverty, identifying comprehensive case management as promising solution that deserves more attention and investment.
