Catholic Charities USA opens 2014 Annual Gathering, welcomes new board members
Alexandria, Virginia (October 3, 2014) – Catholic Charities USA, one of the nation’s largest networks of faith-based social service providers, will open its annual conference this weekend and welcome six new members to its board of trustees.
The 2014 Annual Gathering, to be held in Charlotte, N.C., will highlight innovative methods of “setting the pace and changing the course” in addressing poverty. The conference will feature keynote addresses from author Dr. Ruby Payne, Fr. Ragan Shriver, assistant professor of practice at the University of Tennessee’s College of Social Work, and Profs. William Evans and James Sullivan, co-founders of Notre Dame’s Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities.
At the Annual Gathering, Catholic Charities USA will officially commission six new individuals as members of its board of trustees:
- Mr. Jeff Bialek, executive director of Catholic Charities CYO, in San Francisco, California;
- Mr. Steve Bogus, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky;
- Mr. Steve Bresnahan, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud, Minnesota;
- Mr. Michael Erne, former chief operating officer for Catholic Healthcare West, of Honolulu, Hawaii;
- Ms. Nancy Galeazzi, executive director of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Des Moines, Iowa; and
- Mr. Peter Steinfels, journalist and founder of the Fordham University Center on Religion and Culture, of New York City.
Catholic Charities USA’s Board of Trustees includes agency representatives elected by its Council of Diocesan Directors, independent members, participating observers, and non-voting trustees, including an episcopal liaison from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
