This past Monday our nation recognized Memorial Day, taking time to remember and honor our fallen veterans. Father Larry Snyder recognized their service and sacrifice in his Memorial Day blog where he noted, “while Memorial Day is a worthwhile day of remembrance and gratitude, we should not let it be the extent of our support for those left behind. One day a year is not sufficient for our gratitude.”
Ninety-five percent of local agencies in our member network report serving veterans and their families throughout the year, helping more than 60,000 veterans in 2012 alone. We recognize this service and the services our local agencies provide and pray for our service members and their families not just on Memorial Day, but every day.
