Earlier this week in Fort Worth, Texas, Catholic Charities USA hosted the tenth Partners in Excellence regional gathering, a series of events that brings together member agencies from around the region to share and learn from one another.
During each of these events CCUSA has taken the time to recognize innovative poverty programs by awarding Social Innovation Awards to two local agencies in the area. This week, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston was recognized for their Lotus Project for Women Veterans. Lotus provides supportive housing, counseling and other helpful services for homeless, disabled women veterans both with and without children. Catholic Charities Fort Worth received the second award for their social enterprise WORN, helping immigrant and refugee women put their existing skills to use earning a supplemental income to help them rise out of poverty.
Congratulations again to both of these member agencies, and thank you for your service helping those in poverty with creative, innovative programs that lead to success.
