Catholic Charities USA Annual Gathering

CCUSA’S Annual Gathering is the pre-eminent gathering for Catholic Charities professionals, volunteers, and partners to advance our work, develop poverty reduction strategies, and celebrate our shared identity. Attendees at the gathering come away with innovative program ideas, templates for future work, and new skills to broaden their community's commitment to fight poverty. The 2014 Annual Gathering will be held October 4-7 in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

PSM Regional Trainings

The PSM Regional Trainings are weekend conferences designed for parish staff and volunteers, diocesan staff and volunteers, and Catholic Charities leaders in social ministry to learn more about the Catholic social mission and discover effective strategies to respond to need and injustice. Upcoming trainings: October 24-25, 2014 in Little Falls, Minn.; November 15, 2014 in Charlottesville, Va.; and May 15-16, 2015 in Portland, Maine.

Keep the Dream Alive Mass and Awards 

The Keep the Dream Alive Mass and Awards, co-hosted by CCUSA and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, is held  annually to recognize leaders who have spent their careers and lives working to keep Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream alive by reducing poverty and promoting justice. The 2015 Keep the Dream Alive Mass will be held Friday, January 9, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

2014 National Poverty Summit

The National Poverty Summit brings together academics, policymakers, and non-profit leaders for a substantive and engaging discussion about ending poverty in the United States. The Summit is a chance to showcase the innovative approaches and passionate commitment that so many individuals and organizations exhibit each and every day to strengthen our nation so that everyone, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Events for CCUSA Agencies and Affiliate Members

 

Financial Literacy During Disaster Response and Recovery.

This training is built specifically for those working on long term disaster recovery programs. It will be conducted by Jason Yancy, Director of Consumer Financial Protection, from Operation HOPE, Inc. a non-profit organization whose mission is expanding economic opportunity in underserved communities through economic education and empowerment. IMPORTANT NOTE: This free training is available to New Jersey VOAD member agencies currently assisting with Hurricane Sandy recovery only. This training will be held Thursday, September 4, from 10:00a-3:00p at John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Lane in Piscataway, New Jersey 08854. The Applied Institute for Disaster Excellence (AIDE)

AIDE 2014 will be held at Gull Lake Ministries, in Hickory Corners, MI on October 20th - 24th.  AIDE is designed to equip the Catholic Charities network and diocesan staff for their roles in disaster preparedness and response. The Institute provides participants with the skills, understanding and tools necessary to ready their agency and diocese for disaster response and preparedness. Register here, or contact Fani Cruz for more information.

From Mission to Service

Through a collaboration between the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business and Catholic Charities USA, Catholic Charities agencies have the opportunity to take part in a unique learning experience designed exclusively for senior leaders of Catholic Charities organizations. From Mission to Service examines how faith-based mission imprints decision-making, leadership and organizational practices. Instruction is provided by the faculty from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and Theology Department as well as other national leaders. Click here for more information

Called to Serve - Theological Formation

“Called to Serve” is a unique program of theological formation designed for professionals serving Catholic Charities agencies throughout the United States.  The program, conducted by Catholic Charities USA in collaboration with Catholic Theological Union, takes place on the campus of Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.  Courses are conducted by the faculty and other key resource persons provided by CTU, one of the premier Catholic faculties in the United States.  Tailored to adult learners, “Called to Serve” provides in-depth study of the theological and pastoral foundations of the Catholic Charities mission. Diocesan Directors Spring Gathering

This meeting for executive leaders of Catholic Charities local agencies is hosted at CCUSA's headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. Topics of discussion include a thinking through of Catholic moral theology as it applies to social services, as well as social enterprise, new partnerships with Catholic schools of social work, update on our collaboration with CLINIC and MRS, and much more! 

The O'Grady Institute

The O’Grady Institute provides a continuum of formation opportunities for diocesan directors of Catholic Charities agencies, including retreats, webinars, and tours.  Through advanced study and reflection on scripture, history, spirituality, and theology, diocesan directors may further form their hearts to strengthen them in their ministry. 

Leadership Institute

The Leadership Institute is a week-long interactive training uniquely designed for Catholic Charities leaders and those being groomed for higher levels of responsibility. The Institute provides an opportunity to deepen your commitment to the mission and vision of Catholic Charities, enhance and strengthen your spirituality, leadership, and management skills, and develop a personal plan of action.
